Facility Maintenance: Preparing your property for the winter months

Seasonal maintenance is important for your commercial building and home.
Fall is just around the corner, which means it's time to prepare your facilities for the cooler months to come with these facility maintenance tasks. Be sure to address the following for a smooth seasonal transition:
- Outdoor lighting issues: underground wiring breaks and broken fixtures
- Turn off and drain spigots
- Disconnect and drain outside meters and RPZs
- Turn on lobby heaters
- Perform boiler startups
- Winterize and repair overhead and service doors
- Check for proper operation of heat tape applied to piping
- Adjust time clocks as needed
- Check for proper air levels and unwanted water infiltration in the portion of the fire system designated "dry pipe system"
- Check your door sweeps and doors for proper closing
- Save money now and install self-regulating deicing cable in your gutters and down spouts
By winterizing your commercial property or home, you can be ready for whatever Mother Nature has in store for you this year.
