Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal Ranks Welsh No. 1 Medium-Sized Company to Work For in Twin Cities
August 27, 2009
Welsh, a leading full-service commercial real estate company headquartered in the Twin Cities, has been named the No. 1 mediumsized company to work for in the Twin Cities by the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal.
This year nearly 180 companies participated in the nomination process, with 140 qualifying, and only 45 being named to the list. Awards were granted in three categories based on the companies’ number of employees: small (10-100), medium (101-1,000), and large (1,001 and more). Interior Care & Construction topped the list of honorees in the small-company category and CentraCare Health Systems took the No. 1 place in the large-company category.
“We’re honored that the efforts of our employees have earned such a prestigious recognition,” said Jean Kane, President and Chief Operating Officer, “They are our most valued asset so we strive to help them succeed in both their professional and personal lives.”
Welsh was cited for providing employees with the ongoing training and resources they need to thrive and grow in their jobs in addition to providing an extensive wellness program, and a strong commitment to the environment and to the community. The company also looks to employees for great ideas and best practices, giving them a sense of pride and ownership in the work they do. A few of the perks at Welsh include casua Fridays, summer hours, free soda, onsite fitness center, walking paths, yoga, massages and free health assessments.
Each year, the Business Journal conducts an online employee survey to determine the Twin Cities’ Best Places to Work. Employees are asked to rate their employers’ work environment, people practices, personal growth and development opportunities, day-today operations and implementation of innovation and new ideas.
Welsh was recently named among the ‘Best of the Best’ real estate companies by Midwest Real Estate News and was honored with a Gold Wellness by Design Worksite Award from Hennepin County for promoting and fostering a worksite culture that supports employee’s health and well-being.
In 2008, Welsh relocated their headquarters to the newly constructed Baker Road Corporate Center in Minnetonka, a 99,568-square-foot, four-story, LEED pre-certified office building that they designed and built themselves.
