Welsh Companies' Headquarters, Baker Road Corporate Center, name Top Project of 2008 by Finance and Commerce

July 17, 2009

Welsh Companies’ new headquarters, Baker Road Corporate Center, has been named a Top Project of 2008 by Finance and Commerce.

The newly-constructed, four-story, 99,586-square-foot office building represents all of the different aspects of what Welsh can do as a company. The building and its seven-acre site showcase of all Welsh’s divisions: development, construction, architecture, financing, brokerage, and property management.

Having achieved Gold pre-certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), Baker Road Corporate Center was Welsh’s first Leadership in Energy Design Core and Shell (LEED-CS) project, showing that the company truly understands sustainable design and green-building construction. Five Welsh employees currently hold the LEED AP Certification.

Sustainable aspects of Baker Road Corporate Center include substantial green space development, a reflective white roof, low-flow plumbing fixtures, occupancy sensors on lighting, and shower rooms and bike racks.

Finance and Commerce’s 2008 Top Projects spotlight 25 construction projects throughout Minnesota that were especially creative in their conception and execution. The award is reserved for projects completed in 2008 that showed a high degree of innovative construction technique, creativity in design and overall complexity.

Welsh was recently named among the ‘Best of the Best’ real estate companies by Midwest Real Estate News. The magazine cited Welsh as a leader in ownership, property management, brokerage and finance. In addition, the company has been named one of the Best Places to Work in the Twin Cities by the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal.
