Welsh Construction Awarded Two Best in Real Estate Awards from Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal

April 17, 2009

Welsh Construction has been awarded two Best in Real Estate Awards, for warehouse redevelopment and interior renovation, from the Minneapolis/St.Paul Business Journal.

Welsh converted a 467,416-square-foot adhesive and paint manufacturing facility in Oakdale into new office and warehouse space for Dedicated Logistics, a fleet trucking company. The space was designed to allow for the cultivation of high-performing teams in an effort to connect staff, build camaraderie and ultimately increase productivity and customer service. To help achieve this, Welsh built out a full basketball court, meditation room, game room, exercise room and cafeteria. In addition, the team installed in-floor heating, switchlite glass, a driving simulator, smart boards and video conferencing technology.

Completed in just 13 weeks, the Dedicated Logistics project was headed up by Project Manager Kurt Hoppe, Field Superintendent Dennis Erickson, and Project Assistant Julie Pelletier.

Across town, in North Minneapolis, another Welsh Construction project received Best in Real Estate accolades. Welsh Construction and Genesis Architecture completed the interior renovation of Garden of Gethsemane Ministries Church in just 16 weeks. When construction began, the church, built in 1908, was falling apart. The interior was rotting away and part of the entire building had sunk into the foundation. Today, the beautifully reconstructed facility is used four times a week, and will soon start an after-school tutoring program for students in the community.

Welsh Project Managers Chris Loberg and Blaine Kolles, Field Superintendent Rod Kalina and Project Assistant Jean Springer led the Garden of Gethsemane Ministries Church project to successful completion.

The 11th annual Best in Real Estate awards, presented by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal, honor those who are investing in and building our community one project at a time. Winners were selected by a panel of nine third-party judges.
